4 Important Places You Aren’t Protecting From Sun (But Should)

Although you may already be aware of the importance of sunscreen, and its many benefits, as it reduces your risk of melanoma and other types of skin cancer, it is important to also realize when to apply, where to apply, and how often. Most of the time, we only apply sunscreen on areas that we assume get the most sun exposure, often forgetting about those hard-to-reach areas. But here’s the thing: Melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, can appear anywhere on the body, including areas we neglect to protect from the sun—like our lips, the top of our ears and even the soles of our feet. By making sure you cover all your bases, and applying sunscreen to every exposed area of skin, you significantly decrease the threat of melanoma and other types of skin cancer. To help you with this, here are the four places you tend to miss protecting your skin from the sun, but are unquestionably important to cover.

1. Lips

In order to protect your lips, try using a gloss or balm that has SPF. This will help protect your lips from UV damage, as the most common types of  nonmelanomaskin cancer often occur on our lips.

Try: Vibran-C Lip Treatment SPF 15

2. Scalp

Although protecting your scalp is more prevalent in men with thinning hair, those with long or thick hair are still vulnerable to melanoma. Wearing caps and wide-brimmed hats during prolonged sun exposure allow you to protect your scalp (and look stylish, of course)!

Try: H&H Science Silc Sheer SPF 50+ Sunscreen Spray

3. Face

According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, a 2013 survey revealed that only 30 percent of women apply sunscreen on their face and other exposed skin regularly. Considering that 70 percent of basal cell carcinoma occur on the face, this statistic is scary. Applying sunscreen to your face, or brightening cream with SPF, is pivotal when being out in the sun.

Try: Tinted Brightening BB Cream SPF 50+

4. Eyelids

This may seem like an odd spot to protect from the sun, but eyelids are another common site for nonmelanoma skin cancer. Many skip this area, as some sunscreens may leave a stinging sensation on your eye. In order to protect your eyelids, try using makeup or primer with SPF, aiding in protecting your face overall, including your eyelids.

Try: Retexturizing Face Primer SPF 20

H&H Science New Favorites

Typically when i’m shopping for new H&H Science products, I tend to buy the same things. Last month I decided to give some new products a try and I’m very glad I did! Here are my three new H&H Science favorites!

Deep Detox Hair Treatment:

The Deep Detox Hair Treatment has always been a product I’ve wanted to try, but never got around to. This treatment is definitely one of my favorite purchases because of how well it works. It has never failed to leave my hair feeling soft and protected. Plus, it only takes one to two minutes to do it’s job, making it much easier to use in the morning, at night, or any time of the day.

Detox My Hair Shampoo:

My next newest purchase is the Detox My Hair Shampoo. My previous experience with H&H Science shampoos and conditioners were great, so I decided to change up my hair care routine with new products. With this shampoo, my hair feels cleaner and more protected with every use. I would definitely recommend this shampoo to people who feel their hair is damaged or in need of an extra clean.

Moisturizing Argan Oil Conditioner:

At first I was hesitant when buying a new conditioner because I wasn’t sure if it would work for my hair, but I’m glad I decided to give it a try. This conditioner always leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth. I can’t wait to use it over the summer to make sure the sun or pool water isn’t damaging my hair!

How I Achieved Clean, Healthy Hair

Detox Hair Kit

Some of my favorite H&H Science products all come in on kit! The H&H Detox My Hair Kit is great for all hair types and leaves my hair feeling light and bouncy. The shampoo, conditioner, and deep detox treatment work together to make my hair feel as clean as ever. My hair has never looked better than when I use these products!

Detox My Hair Shampoo

This shampoo is one of the best! It cleans my hair and makes is so soft. After some of the products I use my hair can feel heavy and look dull, but after I use this shampoo it gets rid of all the residue. After the first time you use it, you will notice a huge difference in how your hair feels!

Detox My Hair Conditioner

I love to follow my detox shampoo with the conditioner. This conditioner strengthens your hair and makes it so easy to handle. My hair is curly so conditioner is important to keep my it from tangling up. It also doesn’t weigh my hair down so it still has volume while getting the job done.

Deep Detox Treatment

When I need extra help with my hair, I finish it off with the detox treatment. Sometimes my hair gets dry and the treatment fixes that right away. The treatment strengthens my hair and defines my curls, making them look their best. I love how soft my hair feels after using all three products!

Brand Ambassador Gabby’s April Favorites

I’ve definitely been beyond impressed with all my H&H Science products so far. Some products that I have been loving lately is my H&H Dual Action Makeup Remover and H&H Tar Shampoo!

I use both these products before I go to bed every night. I use the Dual Action Makeup Remover before I wash my face and the Tar Shampoo when I’m in the shower.

I wear mascara almost every single day (besides the weekends) because I HATE taking it off. It gets clunky and gets in your eye and sometimes it gets frustrating for me. If I wear any type of eye makeup, I love to use the makeup remover to take off my mascara, eyeshadow and primer.

There’s a special type of formula that has oil and helps take everything off your eye much easier. The best part is it never burns my eyes if I happen to make a mistake.

Another product I love is my Tar Shampoo. I use it every single time i take a shower. recently, I’ve realized that my hair has been breaking and not looking too healthy. My Tar Shampoo helps dry scalp and makes my hair look so much healthier and shiny; and a little amount goes a long way.

I love these products because they’ve become a part of my every day night time routine. I recommend these products to anyone who thinks they have unhealthy hair and who wears stubborn eye makeup.

Spring Break Essentials

Spring Break Essentials

With spring break around the corner everyone seems to keep busy with school work and making plans, but you must set aside time for your skin! Whether you’re going on vacation or staying home, spring break is not a break for your skin, so here are my 3 favorite H&H Science products essential for spring break!

H&H Science Sunscreen:

Especially if you are going on vacation, H&H Science Sunscreen is a must for your trip! Personally, I prefer this sunscreen over other brands because it comes with smooth application and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized. It also dries very quickly and does not leave an oily residue on your face, which is one of my biggest pet peeves when purchasing sunscreen. Even if you are staying home for break, sunscreen should still be applied everyday to make sure your skin is protected.

Healthy Shine Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner:

As the weather continues to get warmer, the sun not only has an impact on your skin, but your hair as well. Growing up with thick, curly hair, I have learned to make sure my shampoo and conditioner keeps my hair healthy and protected. The H&H Healthy Shine Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner has softened and strengthened my hair, compelling me to wear it naturally more often and to feel confident in it. I would recommend this shampoo and conditioner to people with all hair types, especially if you feel your hair is frizzy or damaged, as it often gets during spring or summer.

Sonic Facial Cleansing Device:

The H&H Sonic Facial Cleansing Device is not necessarily limited to spring break, but is still very useful and has made all the difference in my skin. It is important to make sure you set aside time in your day to care for your skin and wash your face properly, even if you are busy over break.

What do you Think?

What H&H Science products do you use over spring break, and what do you find most helpful? Let me know in the comments below!
