Your checklist for clear, glowing skin
You have gotten all of your school supplies and picked out your outfit for the first day of school with shoes and accessories that are to die for, but none of that counts if you don’t have the clear, glowing complexion to match. To help you put your best face forward, we put together a skin care guide aimed at getting your complexion back to school ready in no time.
Looking your best for the first of school starts weeks in advance. To ensure your skin looks it’s very best, follow these tips:
Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. Hydrated skin is healthy skin.
Catch your zzzzzz’s.
Catch your zzzzzz’s. A good night’s rest goes a long way toward having radiant skin on that first day of school! Getting your ‘beauty rest’ isn’t just a saying. Make sure you are getting at least 7 hours a night to keep your oil levels healthy and your skin smooth & clear!
Are you cleaning everything appropriately that comes into contact with your face?
Are you washing your linens infrequently?
Change your linens especially your pillow cases at a minimum weekly. Hair oils, saliva, make-up and dirt are all landing on your poor pillow and, then, back on your face!
Do you wash down your cell phone and anything that comes in contact with your face regularly?
Here’s a simple rule: if you touch something germy and then you touch your phone or face, chances are those germs are going to end up on your face, so wipe down your phone or use an antibacterial phone wipe at least twice a week. Think about all the things your hands come in contact with. If you are going to put your fingers to your face, just make sure they are clean!
Are you washing your hair routinely?
Are you washing your hair routinely? While we don’t recommend washing your hair daily, but if your hair is oily and your bangs sit on your forehead you may be experiencing more breakouts than usual. If you are prone to “bang-line” blemishes, we recommend pulling them back off your face a few times a week or using a dry shampoo that absorbs excess oil between classes.
Do you wash your make-up brushes routinely?
This is a biggie! Write this on the chalkboard 20 times: I will wash my brushes weekly. NO EXCUSES!
Do you shower after a workout?
Chances are you have sweat and dirt sitting on your skin, possibly clogging your pores and breeding bacteria. I recommend using a toner like our H&H Science Toning Treatment Pads immediately after you workout as it removes the sweat and sebum buildup.
Eat a well-balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables.
Banish acne-producing foods like French fries, soda, chocolate and candy from your diet.

Cleanse deeper – cleanse your skin more effectively with the help of our H&H Sonic Facial Cleansing Device and your H&H Science Cleanser for your skin type- gets rid of all surface bacteria and cleans out your pores more effectively than just cleansing alone. This will dramatically reduce the chance of clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads.
Add a weekly masque into your skin care routine!
Add a weekly masque into your skin care routine, like our H&H Pore Minimizing Masque, to keep your pores tight and acne at bay. Or add a weekly at home peel treatment like our H&H Clear Skin Peel Kit to give your skin an extra special glow and knock out any pesky breakouts in their tracks.
Make sure your makeup is MINERAL
Make sure that your make-up is mineral and parabens, fragrance, colorant and oil free and always wash it off before you go to bed! Every time you sleep in make-up, your pores become clogged which can lead to breakouts and acne.
